1. I Forgot My System Password—Now What?

Forgetting your password can be frustrating, especially when you need to disarm the system or make changes to your settings.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • From a smartphone: Open the Alarm.com app. On the login screen, tap “Forgot Username or Password.” Enter your username when prompted. You’ll receive an email with instructions to reset your password.

  • From a computer: Visit alarm.com, click “Login,” then select “Login Help.” Enter your username to receive a password reset email.

2. How Do I Change or Add User Codes?

Changing user codes helps keep your system secure—especially after a guest visit or employee turnover.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • From a smartphone: Open the Alarm.com app and log in. Tap “More” in the bottom right, then select “Users.” Tap the three dots next to a user to edit or delete their access.

  • From a computer: Log in to alarm.com. Click “Users” on the left-hand menu. You’ll see a list of users, and you can use the three-dot menu next to each to edit or delete their codes.

3. How Can I Delete a Smartphone User from the System?

If you’ve granted mobile access to someone who no longer needs it—like a contractor, former employee, or roommate—it’s important to remove their login to maintain full control over your system.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • From a computer only: Log in to Alarm.com and click “Users” on the left-hand side. At the top of the screen, select “Manage Logins.” A trash can icon will appear next to all users (except the primary account). Click the icon to delete any unwanted users.

4. I’m Getting Too Many Notifications—Can I Cut Back?

Getting notified every time a door opens or motion is detected can quickly become overwhelming. You can customize your settings to only receive the alerts that matter most to you.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • From a smartphone: Open the Alarm.com app and tap “More” on the bottom right. Select “Notifications” and toggle any alerts on or off.

  • From a computer: Log in to alarm.com. Click “Notifications” on the left-hand side. From there, you can toggle alerts on or off—or delete them entirely using the trash can icon.
